Chinese Steamed Rice

Method

400 g Long Grain Rice
800 ml Water

Place the rice in a bowl and wash it gently several times until the water runs clear.

Place the rice in a saucepan and cover with water so that the water sits 1/2 inch above the rice.

Put the saucepan on a high heat and bring to the boil then turn the heat down to medium / low and keep simmering with the lid on for a further 10 minutes. Do not lift the lid under any circumstances.

When the 10 minutes is up, remove from the heat and leave the lid on the pan for a further 5 minutes. Fluff the rice with a fork or chop sticks before serving.
