1 Fresh Baguette
2 oz. Unsalted Butter, Softened
8 oz. High-quality French Ham (such As Jambon De Paris Or Bayonne)
Dijon Mustard (optional)
Slice the baguette lengthwise, being careful not to cut all the way through, so the sandwich stays connected on one side.
Spread the softened butter on both sides of the baguette. If desired, add a thin layer of Dijon mustard to one side.
Layer the ham slices evenly over the bottom half of the baguette, folding them neatly to fit the shape of the bread.
Close the sandwich and press gently to help the ingredients adhere. Slice the sandwich into individual portions and serve with cornichons or pickles on the side, if desired.
