Chinese, Main Course Lactose Free, Prawns (Peeled and Deveined)

Steamed Shrimp with Garlic (Suan Rong Zheng Xia)

1 lb. Large Shrimp, Peeled And Deveined
¼ cup Minced Garlic
¼ cup Thinly Sliced Green Onions
2 tbsp. Vegetable Oil
1 tbsp. Soy Sauce
1 tbsp. Chinese Black Vinegar (or Balsamic Vinegar)
1 tsp. Sugar
¼ tsp. Salt
1 tbsp. Sesame Oil

Rinse the shrimp and pat them dry with paper towels. Arrange the shrimp in a single layer on a heatproof plate.

In a small skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes, or until it is golden brown and fragrant. Remove the skillet from the heat and set it aside.

In a small bowl, mix the soy sauce, Chinese black vinegar, sugar, and salt. Drizzle the sauce over the shrimp.

Set up a steamer or place a steaming rack in a wok filled with water. Bring the water to a boil.

Place the plate with the shrimp on the steamer or steaming rack. Cover the steamer or wok and steam the shrimp for 5-6 minutes, or until the shrimp are cooked through and pink.

Carefully remove the plate with the shrimp from the steamer or wok. Drizzle the cooked garlic oil and sesame oil over the steamed shrimp.

Scatter the sliced green onions over the shrimp, and serve immediately with steamed white rice.
