Cranberry Sauce for Roast Turkey

Ingredients

Method

1 cup sugar
1 cup water
4 cups fresh cranberries
Zest and juice of one orange
Pinch of salt

Place the water, sugar, and orange zest into a medium saucepan.

Stir over medium heat until the sugar is dissolved.

Add the fresh cranberries, orange juice, and a pinch of salt.

Increase the heat and boil gently for 10 minutes until the cranberries burst and the sauce thickens.

Allow the sauce to cool completely at room temperature, then transfer to a bowl to chill in the refrigerator.

The sauce will continue to thicken as it cools.

Serve chilled or at room temperature with roast turkey.
