North American, Main Course Nut Free, Macaroni (Dried) Cheese - Cheddar (Mild)

Macaroni and Cheese

226 g Elbow Macaroni
473 ml Sharp Cheddar Cheese (shredded)
120 ml Parmesan Cheese (grated)
473 ml Milk
2 tbsp All-Purpose Flour
2 tbsp Unsalted Butter
½ tsp Salt
½ tsp Black Pepper
120 ml Bread Crumbs

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

Cook the macaroni according to package instructions until al dente; drain.

In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour, salt, and pepper.

Gradually whisk in the milk, and cook over medium heat, whisking until the mixture thickens and bubbles.

Remove from heat, and stir in the cheddar and Parmesan cheeses until melted and smooth.

Mix the cheese sauce with the cooked macaroni, then transfer to a baking dish.

Top with bread crumbs.

Bake in the preheated oven until hot and bubbly, about 20 minutes. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.
