Rabanada (Brazil)

Serves 4

Ingredients

Method

1 French Baguette, Cut Into Thick Slices
1 cup Milk
3 Eggs
1 cup Sugar
1 tbsp. Cinnamon (Ground)
500 ml. Oil, for Frying

In a shallow dish, mix together the milk and half of the sugar.

Soak the bread slices in the milk mixture for about 2 minutes on each side.

In another dish, beat the eggs.

Heat the oil in a large frying pan over medium-high heat.

Dip the soaked bread slices in the beaten eggs, then fry them in the hot oil until they're golden brown on both sides.

Mix the remaining sugar and the cinnamon in a plate.

Drain the fried bread slices on paper towels, then roll them in the sugar-cinnamon mixture while they're still hot.

Serve the rabanada warm.
