Oil Down (Grenada)

1 kg. Chicken, Cut into Pieces
1 Breadfruit, Peeled and Chopped
200 g. Flour
400 ml. Can Of Coconut Milk
1 Onion, Chopped
2 Garlic Cloves, Minced
1 tsp. Turmeric
Salt and Pepper to Taste
60 ml. Vegetable Oil
Heat the oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic. Cook until the onion is softened.
Add the chicken to the pot and brown on all sides.
Add the breadfruit, coconut milk, turmeric, and enough water to cover the ingredients in the pot. Bring to a simmer, cover, and cook for about 1 hour, or until the chicken is cooked through and the breadfruit is tender.
While the pot is simmering, combine the flour and a pinch of salt in a bowl. Add enough water to make a stiff dough. Shape the dough into small dumplings.
Add the dumplings to the pot and cook for an additional 10 minutes, or until the dumplings are cooked through. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Serve the oil down hot.
