Fried Plantains

Method

4 Ripe Plantains
500 ml. Vegetable Oil for Frying
Salt to Taste (Optional)

Peel the plantains and cut them into 1/2-inch thick slices.

Heat the oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat.

Fry the plantain slices until golden brown on both sides. Do this in batches if necessary, and be careful not to overcrowd the pan.

Use a slotted spoon to remove the plantains from the oil. Drain on paper towels.

Sprinkle with salt if desired. Serve the fried plantains hot. They can be enjoyed on their own or with a dipping sauce.
