Dry Martini

Ingredients
Method
A little while beforehand put a bottle of Beefeater Gin (or similar 'pure' tasting gin such as Plymouth) and a cocktail glass into the freezer.
Place 4 large ice cubes in a mixing glass.
Retrieve the Gin and Cocktail Glass from the freezer.
Pour the Gin and the Vermouth over the ice cubes. The ratio of Gin to Vermouth should be 6:1.
Stir vigorously with a bar spoon until the mixture becomes very cold, but not so long as to excessively dilute the mixture (about 10 seconds).
Thread the olive on a cocktail stick and place it in the chilled glass.
Using a hawthorne strainer to meticulously exclude any ice, pour the Gin and Vermouth into the cocktail glass.
Make sure that there is no lemon still attached to the twist (you want only the oil from the skin), squeeze the lemon twist over the glass and twist it to release a thin spray of lemon oil over the Martini. Discard the twist.
Serve immediately.
