Chiburekki (Crimean Tatar)

500 g. All-purpose Flour
1 Egg
200 ml. Water
1 tsp. Salt
500 g. Ground Beef Or Lamb
2 Onions, Finely Chopped
Salt and Black Pepper to Taste
Vegetable Oil

To make the dough: In a large bowl, combine the flour, egg, water, and salt. Knead until smooth, then cover and let rest for 30 minutes.

For the filling: In a bowl, combine the ground meat, onions, salt, and pepper.

Divide the dough into small balls, then roll each one out into a thin circle.

Place a spoonful of the meat filling on one half of each dough circle.

Fold the dough over the filling to form a half-moon shape and pinch the edges to seal.

Heat the vegetable oil in a deep pan and fry the chiburekki, a few at a time, until they are golden brown on both sides.

Drain the chiburekki on paper towels and serve hot.
