Makroudh

Serves 6

Ingredients

Method

500 g Fine Semolina
200 g Butter, Melted
100 ml Orange Blossom Water
200 g Dates, Pitted
50 g Walnuts, Chopped
1 tsp Ground Cinnamon
500 g Honey
Vegetable Oil for Frying

In a bowl, combine semolina, melted butter, and orange blossom water. Knead until you get a soft dough.

In another bowl, combine dates, walnuts, and cinnamon, mix well.

Divide the dough into small portions and roll each one into a thin rectangle. Place a spoonful of the date mixture along the center, then roll the dough around the filling to form a cylinder. Cut into diamond shapes.

Heat the oil in a deep pan and fry the makroudh until golden brown. Remove from the oil and drain on paper towels.

Warm the honey and soak the fried pastries in it for a few minutes before draining. Allow to cool before serving.
