East African, Side Dish Lactose Free Nut Free, Plain Flour

Chapati

Method

2 cups All-purpose Flour
1 tsp. Salt
2 tbsp. Vegetable Oil, Plus Extra for Cooking
¾ cup Water

In a large bowl, mix together the flour and salt.

Add the oil and water to the bowl and mix until a dough forms.

Knead the dough for a few minutes until it is smooth and elastic.

Divide the dough into balls and roll each ball out into a thin circle.

Heat a small amount of oil in a pan over medium heat.

Cook each chapati for 1-2 minutes on each side, until it is golden brown and puffed up.

Keep the chapatis warm under a clean cloth until they are all cooked.
