Method

250 g. Long Grain Rice
200 g. Black-Eyed Beans
5 g. Baking Soda
1 l. Water
2 g. Salt

Soak the beans overnight, then drain.

Boil the beans in water with the baking soda until they are almost tender.

Rinse the rice and add it to the pot with the beans.

Add salt and cook until the rice and beans are both soft.

Serve the Waakye hot, often accompanied by stew, spaghetti, boiled eggs, and/or fried plantain.
