Pears in Red Wine

4 Pear (Fresh)
              500 ml Red Wine
              1 Cinnamon Sticks
              3 Cloves (Whole)
              ½ Rind of half a Lemon cut into strips
              150 g Sugar 
          Peel pears leaving the stem in, place into a saucepan, add wine, sugar, cinnamon, cloves and lemon rind. Add a little water and bring to the boil slowly and simmer for about an hour or until the pears are soft.
Remove pears from the pan and reduce the sauce until thickened.
Leave to cool and serve the pears with the sauce together with some vanilla ice cream.
